Mission
Cavaliers Youth Fund supports programs designed to positively impact young people in the areas of education, recreation and employment and life skills, with a particular emphasis on programs aimed at at-risk youth.

Additional consideration is given to programs that deal with specific health related diseases such as retinitis pigmentosa and breast cancer awareness, as well as other degenerative eye diseases and women's health issues.

Guidelines
Grants are made from the Cavaliers Youth Fund in response to applications from organizations serving the specific needs of the community.

Primary Interests
Educational Programs
  • Programs that promote the importance of staying in school and receiving a high school diploma. Targeted at inner city youth with emphasis on Attitude, Attendance and Achievement.
  • Programs that encourage parental involvement in developing self confidence and increased performance levels in young people.
  • Programs that promote and reward academic achievement, including scholarship programs that support higher education.
  • Examples of Educational programs eligible to receive grants: PRO'S program, 24 Math Challenge, Summer Academy.

Recreational Programs
  • Programs designed to encourage at-risk youth to develop more positive lifestyles.
  • Programs that promote health, fitness and teamwork and foster a positive mentoring environment.
  • Examples of Recreational Programs eligible to receive grants: Midnight Basketball Leagues, Summer Basketball Camps, Youth Basketball Leagues.

Employment & Life Skills
  • Programs designed to improve the basic social and economic well-being of our community.
  • Programs that provide training and supervision in assisting young people in procuring and maintaining a job.
  • Examples of theses programs eligible to receive grants: Urban League, Harvest for Hunger.

Geographic Priority
The geographic area for consideration is Northeast Ohio, with priority given to Cuyahoga and Summit counties. Secondary consideration will be given to organizations in Lake, Stark, Portage, Medina, and Lorain counties.

Application Procedures
All requests for support require a completed application form to be received at the address listed above.

Applications will be considered in the order in which they are received. The Foundation's Board of Directors meets quarterly and grants are authorized at those meetings and distributed shortly thereafter.

There is no guarantee of annual support. Also, generally grantees will not receive more than three consecutive annual grants.

The McCormick Foundation does not make grants to programs that would financially benefit the Cavaliers Youth Fund.
