MCCORMICK TRIBUNE FREEDOM MUSEUM CAPTURES
YOUTH VOTE IN ILLINOIS PRIMARY SIMULATION

3,000 Chicagoland Students Voice Their Opinions On Super Tuesday

WHEN: Tuesday, February 5, 2008
WHERE: Selected Chicagoland schools:
Gordon Tech High School (Chicago)
West Chicago Community High School (West Chicago)
Resurrection High School (Chicago)
WHAT: As millions of Americans head to the polls on Super Tuesday, more than 3,000 Chicagoland middle and high school students will cast their votes from their classrooms, in the McCormick Tribune Freedom Museum’s Illinois Primary simulation. Throughout the day, you can find out how students are voting by checking live election results from the Freedom Museum’s Student Vote Project Web site: www.freedommuseum.us/students/student_vote_2008.htm.
Although, these votes won’t count in the tomorrow’s election, this project allows young people to learn about the election process and, ideally, begin a lifelong tradition of civic engagement.
CONTACT: If you are interested in attending one of the primary simulations, please call Abby Taylor at 312 222 3188.
