“Oktoberfest” Returns to Cantigny’s Red Oak Room on Sept. 18
WHEATON, IL, September 2, 2009
The Red Oak Room at Cantigny Golf, part of the McCormick Foundation, is preparing for one of its most popular annual dining events: Oktoberfest! This year’s feast is set for Friday, Sept. 18, at 7 pm.
A special German-style buffet will be served along with samples of German wines and special Oktoberfest beers. The evening is priced at $35 per person, tax and gratuity included. Reservations are requested at 630 260 8194.
“People love Oktoberfest,” said Mike Machay, Cantigny director of food and beverage. “Our culinary team goes all out for this event and it really shows. For food selection and quality, atmosphere and dining value, this is hard to beat.”
Diners will not go home hungry, that’s for sure. Oktoberfest buffet choices will include:
- Soft pretzels with smoked mustard cheese sauce
- Black Forest ham pizza with Gruyere cheese and crème fraiché
- Pickled beet salad with horseradish
- Smoked trout garden salad with choice of three dressings
- Schnitzel with spätzle and brown caper butter
- Bratwurst and knockwurst served with sauerkraut
- Potato pancakes with sour cream
- Bavarian apple strudel
- Black Forest cake
Seasonal Oktoberfest brews to be served include: Hofbräu, Spaten, Ayinger, Becks, Weihenstephan, Berghoff, Bell’s and Goose Island.
