“Summer Evening at Cantigny” Set for July 22
WHEATON, IL, July 7, 2010
Registration is now open for one of Cantigny Park’s signature tour events, “A Summer Evening at Cantigny.” The program on Thursday, July 22, will feature select tours of Cantigny Gardens and the Robert R. McCormick Museum, followed by wine, soft drinks and light snacks in the museum’s library.
“This is always a magical evening,” said Diane Gutenkauf, director of the Robert R. McCormick Museum. “It will be easy to imagine that Colonel McCormick invited you to a private party in his home, and that he just stepped out of the room. And of course the gardens are spectacular this time of year.”
The McCormick Museum is a historic house museum interpreting the life and legacy of Colonel Robert R. McCormick (1880-1955), longtime editor and publisher of the
Chicago Tribune.
Cantigny Gardens, spanning nearly 30 acres, is widely regarded as a horticultural masterpiece. It is one of the largest display gardens in the Midwest, showcasing perennials, ground covers, flowering bulbs, shrubs and trees.
“A Summer Evening at Cantigny” will begin from the park Visitors Center at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $30 per person. Advance registration (required) is available online at
