Steps for Applying for Journalism Program Funding

Letter of Inquiry (LOI)

1. Before submitting a full proposal, the organization must submit a Letter of Inquiry. These LOIs must be submitted online.  You can access the application through the McCormick Grant Request system.
2. If you are a new user, you'll need to enter your e-mail address and create a password. If you already are registered with us, you can use your existing McCormick Grant Request log in and password. (Current grantees: This is the same log in and password you used to complete your year-end grant reports).
3. The application includes questions about the organization, the proposed project, need, budget, timeline and impact. It also addresses how the program fits into the Journalism Program’s guidelines.
4. Letters of Inquiry for requests of more than $50,000 are due May 8. LOIs for grant requests of $50,000 or less are accepted throughout the year.
5. Once your application has been received, you will receive a confirming e-mail. Program staff will contact you via phone or e-mail should we require more information about your application. If your project is selected to be considered for funding, we will request a full proposal. Visit the Full Proposal Requirements page for more information.
