WGN-TV Chicago Scholars Fund
Your donation enables Chicago Scholars to continue running at full speed, helping Chicago’s brightest youth from underserved communities make the journey from senior year of high school through to college completion and on to their first job. In addition, your donation helps fund “Scholar Dollars,” a pool of funds available to Chicago Scholars students when they need extra support with college expenses like books, study abroad, internships and more! The McCormick Foundation will match all online donations at 50% through the end of 2022.
About the Campaign
From August through October 2022, WGN-TV will be showcasing Chicago Scholars’ story and programs on WGN-TV. A student’s journey from high school to a career is full of complex transitions. On average, only 48% of Chicago Public School students who enroll in college receive a four-year degree within six years. Chicago Scholars assists students with access to post-secondary education, mentorship, and leadership training to help them reach their highest potential. Your contribution can make success a reality for Chicago students from under-resourced communities and first-generation college applicants.
McCormick Match
WGN-TV Family Charities, a McCormick Foundation Fund, fundraises on behalf of seven different charities: Chicago Scholars, Greater Chicago Food Depository, Off The Street Club, Christmas in the Wards, Chicago Habitat for Humanity, Chicago Scholars, and Red Cross. The McCormick Foundation matches all donations to WGN-TV Family Charities at fifty cents on the dollar. With WGN-TV and the Foundation paying all campaign and administrative expenses, one hundred percent of all donations, plus the match is granted to qualified nonprofit organizations. The McCormick Foundation may share donor information with the grantee nonprofit organizations so they can share additional information with you on the impact of your dollars.
The McCormick Foundation does not make grants to programs that would financially benefit WGN-TV.
