Increasing our Impact

The Robert R. McCormick Foundation has established a philanthropic partnership program with a number of the city’s sports teams, media organizations and corporate-related foundations. Contributions to the McCormick Foundation from these partners are matched by the Foundation — 50 cents for every dollar contributed — and the total proceeds are then granted to a range of organizations, many of which are focused on Chicago’s South and West sides.

Grants from our partnership program complement the grant investment the Foundation makes through it various portfolios and allows us to have increased impact in the communities we serve.

In 2022, the total amount granted through all of our partnership programs (funds raised and the McCormick match) totaled $8.8 million.

McCormick Match

The McCormick Foundation matches funds raised at 50 cents on the dollar. We pay all campaign and administrative expenses, so one hundred percent of all donations, plus the match is granted to qualified nonprofit organizations.
