About the Food Drive
The 12th Annual Food Drive will benefit Greater Chicago Food Depository. Clients and viewers alike are invited to drop off non-perishable food at WGN-TV on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 5-10 am.
In addition, WGN sponsors and viewers are invited to make a monetary donation to WGN-TV Family Charities, a Fund of the Robert R. McCormick Foundation, to support the Greater Chicago Food Depository. All donations will be matched $.50 for every $1.00 raised!
McCormick Match
The McCormick Foundation matches funds raised at 50 cents on the dollar. We pay all campaign and administrative expenses, so one hundred percent of all donations, plus the match is granted to qualified nonprofit organizations.

WGN-TV Family Charities, a McCormick Foundation Fund, is focused on creating opportunities for children and families to help them fulfill their potential. We hope to bring awareness to various organizations and to enlist community support to help make a difference in the lives of families throughout the Chicago area.
The McCormick Foundation does not make grants to programs that would financially benefit WGN-TV.
About Greater Chicago Food Depository
The Greater Chicago Food Depository, Chicago’s food bank, believes a healthy community starts with food. Its partner network of more than 850 food pantries, soup kitchens and other programs across Chicago and Cook County continues to respond to an increased need for food, currently serving about 200,000 households a month. In partnership with community-based organizations and individuals, the Food Depository addresses the root causes of hunger and works to ensure that neighbors have the food they need to thrive.
